Trauma: Miami

Trauma therapy in Miami.

For the past that keeps arriving in the present uninvited, in person at either Florida office, or by secure video across the state.

What Counts

Trauma is not only the obvious kind.

  • A single overwhelming event that changed the baseline
  • Years of an environment that was never safe to relax in
  • Medical trauma, birth trauma, an accident
  • Loss of a home or a country, and starting again
  • A relationship that eroded your sense of what is real
  • Something you have always minimized because others had it worse

How it is treated

Stabilization first, then processing with EMDR, somatic work, or parts-based work depending on what your system tolerates. The order matters more than the technique, and going slowly early is what makes the rest possible.

No timelines are promised. Anyone quoting you a number of sessions to resolve trauma is guessing.

In person or online

In-person sessions are at 2000 S. Dixie Highway, Suite 104 in Coconut Grove or 3081 Salzedo Street, Suite 202 in Coral Gables. Telehealth is available anywhere in Florida, and whether trauma processing is done by video is decided together based on your history and your support outside sessions.

More on Trauma Therapy in Miami

Signs that support might help

Sleep that has not recovered, a body that stays braced, avoiding places or people that used to be ordinary, or reactions that feel bigger than the moment. None of these require a diagnosis to be worth talking about.

Safety comes first

Outpatient trauma therapy is planned care. If you are in danger now, call 911, or call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. If a higher level of care would serve you better, the practice will say so directly.

The free 5 to 10 minute consultation is the place to ask whether this fits what you are dealing with. You do not need to explain everything on that call.
