Grief & Loss

Grief does not move in a straight line. Some days are harder than others.

Whether the loss was last month or eleven years ago, whether it was a person, a marriage, a pregnancy, a career or a version of your life, there is no schedule you are behind on.

What People Bring Here

Loss has more shapes than the obvious one.

  • A death, recent or long ago, that never had room to be felt
  • Grief that arrived late, after the practical part was handled
  • The end of a marriage or a long relationship
  • Miscarriage, infertility, or a pregnancy that ended
  • A diagnosis that changed what the future looked like
  • Losing a parent while still parenting your own children

What sessions are like

Mostly, sessions make room. Grief is not a problem to be corrected, and Amber does not treat it as one. The work is having somewhere to say the parts you edit out for the people around you: the anger, the relief, the guilt about the relief.

Where grief has become tangled with trauma, or with a depression that will not lift, we address that directly rather than waiting it out.

Grief in a family

Households grieve at different speeds and in different styles, which is its own source of conflict. Some of this work happens with couples, and some with a teenager who has decided that the way to help is to need nothing.

You don't have to keep feeling stuck in the same patterns.

There is no right time to start. There is only whether today works.

Tell us a little about what brings you here and we will find a time to talk.
