Therapy for Women

You have been the one everyone relies on. Your needs matter too.

A large part of this practice is women who are extremely good at holding things (for their families, their teams, their parents) and who have not been asked in a long time what they need.

What Comes Up

Themes that recur in this work.

  • Anger that does not feel safe or acceptable to express.
  • Guilt attached to rest and to saying no.
  • Being the default parent, planner, and emotional manager.
  • Identity after a move, a baby, a divorce, or a career shift.
  • Perimenopause and the mood changes nobody prepared you for.
  • Caring for aging parents while still raising children.

The invisible work

Much of what exhausts women is not on any calendar: remembering, anticipating, smoothing, absorbing. Naming it accurately is often the first useful thing that happens here, because you cannot renegotiate labor that has no name.

How the work is shaped

Boundaries and interpersonal skills for the conversations that need to happen, self-compassion work for the guilt that follows them, IFS or psychodynamic work where the rule about self-sacrifice was learned, and somatic work for a body that has been carrying it.

Amber also sees women around pregnancy loss, fertility, and postpartum adjustment. Where a perinatal psychiatric provider is needed, she will refer.

You don't have to keep feeling stuck in the same patterns.
